Mod a charger? Lower Amp output?
I guess this one is for ph2t and those others who are electronically inclined.
I read a while back that the micro-T can be charged using a hobby charger. One that charges at a fraction of an amp. My hobby charger only goes down to 1A. I know resistors are used to dumb down voltage, but is there anything I can install similar to an inline resistor to lower my output amperage?
My charger has a tamiya connection, it also has an extra wire with a corresponding connection so that I can use another connection type without harming the charger. I'd like something to install onto that "bridge" to lower my amps to a propper level to charge my incoming micro-T.

Hey Maxx, you still got that MSC that came with your Tamiya car? That should have a couple resistor bars like Betty is talking about.betty.k wrote:a resistor is your best bet.
you'll want a big 5w one too, looks like a white eraser with 2 wires sticking out. it will get hot too, make allowances.
measure the current inline, eg: so that the multimeter is part of the curcuit.
I remember when I got my first RC way back when, and I didn't have my charger yet. I went over to a buddy's house, that used to race RCs when we were kids and he broke out with this resistor wire to charge it with. It was a really super thin piece of wire, like the kind used to wind a motor's arm, so it created enough resistance to hook my battery directly up to a car battery. Same concept, so I know its feasable.
