RS sells replacement batteries for the SE...

Post by crazydave »

Where can I buy a replacement battery for the ZipZaps chassis?
Calling 1-800-THE-SHACK is the fastest way to find the batteries you need. Ask for RSU #12413449, 1.2V Ni-MH 1/4 AAA Battery or RSU #12413456, 2.4V MINI Battery.
Well I probably would not order a 1/4 AAAs from RS, as there are plenty of places to get those cheap, but I thought it might be handy to order me up some spare SE batteries.

radio shack online has got them on backorder till march 1.
my local radio shack told me they were nla{no longer available}, I said so I have a bunch of $25 zipzaps that I can't use and they said yeah , so I called r/s online and they informed me no that is not the case and the batteries are just backordered.so much for trusting the local ratshack.

:-(

what source are you getting these from {aftermarket}.
I saw them on 2 sites{cant remember which} and they were $7 a piece.
there has to be a cheaper alternative . :???:

I haven't really checked the after market for SE style batteries yet. I just thought it would be convenient to order them from RS, but I should have known that RS would have issues.

Thanks for the heads up.

Actually, it's a good idea, b/c not only do you save weight, but it's cheaper.

Zipzap SE Batteries are $3.29 from 1-800-the-shack I called friday actually. I thought they were alittle pricey but if some other place had them for $7 i guess it might be worth it to pick a few up

Hell yeah brotha. You gets an Amen to that.

There's still bunches of places selling microB motors for like $10.99. The Shack will charge you $7.99 for a gear set, and a couple motors that will only make a marginal difference in speed. Micro_amps will charge you $20 (plus shipping both ways) for a FET mod. So $3.29 to make your car fly, has got to be a bargain. I mean it's just gotta be.

You guys got me confused, you're talking about using the SE 2.4v in a regular ZZ right?

I'll double check tonight with my trusty micrometer, but it seems the 2.4v SE batt is like Hogs preference for hang-low...Long but not too thick. So there might be some 'workin' that batt in a regular ZZ.

already been done mang. it totally kicks ass. no chassis chopping needed(but encouraged). in tandem with the wide tire kit and red gears, you get a zz that coasts very well, even in turns. so yes a totally balls out track car.
