Drifter is Up and Running

Post by SHAUN »

I finally got my drifter running. I still need to get a body.

Specs

Stock E10
Rear Diff Locked
Novak Super Rooster
Trinity 19 Turn
6 Cell Stick Pack
ABS Drift Tires on HPI "mesh" rims.

I'll be picking up this body shortly, I plan on going to paint it orange, with a black hood or something. I also plan on running these wheels.

I've never seen a Trans Am drifter, but I would do it just because I dig TAs.

For the same kind of money you could have easily got a used TC4 or Corally RDX. the TC4 can be hopped up as far as you want and the RDX is completely hopped up from the factory.

I don't think you want to run that E10 with anything but a 27t motor because it's driveline simply can't handle a 19 turn.

I haven't had any problems yet, I was running it with a 11T, but went with the 19T for a little more torque. I didn't really spend any money on this, I got the ESC for free, and the motor for free. I have about $180 into the car, and a little more once I buy the body and wheels, and possible the new T-drift tires. I wont be doing any upgrades that aren't transferable since this is just a beginner chassis, once I get the drifting down I'll move on to something more advance with more set up options.

Even a TA05, which is well, dirt cheap now, is a better deal than an E10.

The E10 is a good idea that basically proved itself to be half-assed.

I was looking at picking up one of the HPI Sprint 2 drift sport cars but still have not made up my mind

I hear the D-Box really help with the learning curve in RC drifting....Have you thought about adding of of them to this car?

a d-box may 'help' with the learning curve but if you end up depending on it, you won't be able to drive without it.

This article sums up the technique needed to drift quite nicely. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_q ... _n9221387/" target="_blank
