Xmod Stadium Truck! Check this baby out! Compleatly Revised
Well, ive always been a fan of those fancy german Table top trucks (TTT) and ive tried my hand at them a few times but those U joints are just so darn small. I figured i would start with a slightly larger scale to get the hang of things and then if this works correctly im going to try an epoch sized stadium truck/buggy with full suspension and so on.
Anyways, here is what ive been working on:
I used the rear gear section from a broken xmod for my starting place. I then built some arms and U joints, mounted it all together (way over simplified, ill let the pictures speak for themselves) and so far i have one side just about finished. That upper control arm needs to be replaced with an adjustable one (the one there is just to hold it up) and i still need shocks but thats an easy fix.
I had to make the U joint shaft expandable so that it would expand with the articulation of the suspension arm. It took me a while to figure out how exactly to do that but it worked out very well. I hooked the motor up to a working power source and the joints work flawlessly through the entire range of motion, im quite happy with how its working so far although it may not hold up to a ton of abuse.
anyways, enough of my talking, here are some shots of what i have finished so far:

and this is just to show how much clearance it has ( resting on a bashed xmod) and to show how much smaller it is compaired to my Mini T stadium truck,, not as small as my next one will be but im working my way down the scale.

Hope you like it and any comments would be great,
Thanks

I think im going to end up using my spair kyosho overland humvee body for this one but i cant say for sure.
Its going to end up being more xmod than you think. Im still using the xmod electronics, the rear section, the motor, and the xmod chassis (as far as the plan goes now) so its actualy mostly an xmod with a modified suspension. At the moment i have it in parts so its easier to work with
Its of course still a work in progress, Its taken me a good 3 days of spair time to get this far so its a long ways off. The front end wont have the drive shafts but the steering is going to be just as complicated to fabricate so we will see.

Yeah, that wheel looks like it has that mad camber because it does lol. That upper support (the one with the hole for the shock at the end of it) is just for the mock-up and it isnt the correct length so its throwing the camber way off. i was just using it to test everything..Ill make an adjustable one later on. Ive also decided that mounting the shocks in the stock place with that upper arm isnt going to give me much travel at all so ill do something else with that as well.
Id use a sport trac body in a heart beat if i could find a nice light plastic one but sadly to say they are really hard to come by,, if anyone has one sitting around or knows where to get one ill gladly buy or trade for it but i have a bad feeling that they are in short supply...i have one for my overland but i cant seem to find that model anymore
Anyways, thanks and keep the comments comming

ok, its been a while since my last post,, ive been moving into a new apartment and i just got my internet working after 3 weeks or so.
Anyways, i decided to scrap the first xmod stadium truck and came up with this: Every part you see here has been made from "Junk" and scraps just laying around. I made the clear chassis from a zz box and heated it up to bend the sides and front, i used brass and aluminum pieces to construct all of the expandable drive shafts and the mounts for them. the shocks are from an overland, the wheels are xmod, the tires are lego and the other plastic and gears are just junk i had sitting around (i think the gears came from a pull back toy of some sort,, Of course its not anywhere near done but i thought i would get some more recent pics up,, enjoy

well, if you are talking about that silver mini T up top i just spent $100+ on her tonight. Purchased a new motor and a custom 8.4volt battery pack,,,She should be running a little quicker soon.
if you are talking about my first "xmod" stadium truck,, its scrap at the moment,, i didnt have the patience to keep working on it after starting this project...its been a solid 2 weeks in the making and as you can see i still have alot of work to do on it but its coming along nicely...I also was able to get my hands on a plastic vacuum mold so im going to make a model of the stadium truck i want and im going to make a body from scratch,, to keep with the theme ( i hope)
