A fool and his money are soon parted.

Any mule willing to peter out that much dough on a done deal (and totally negate learning experience and satisfaction of building it yourself)...Well, I say go ahead and let Atomic make money off their sorry ass.

I saw that the other day, and thought "that wouldn't be bad for about $300, for the lazy fools." not noticing the price AM wanted for their "product." I'll have you know I just bought an entirely working car for $700, and needed just one $100 sensor(vehicle speed sensor). So for their $800, I bougt a '93 Civic that is giving me a better time than a Z could.

Hell yea , I bought a roadworthy , nice condition 1988 civic HB for approx $300usd (real good deal though) , and it runs like a dream , great on gas , and awsome condition.

so for under half what they want for a mini-z :?

No kidding. Especially since anyone who could possibly maintain that car in the same condition it arrives in will have to know enough that they could have built it themselves. Then again, if you have $800 to spend on a mini-z, you can probably afford your own private butt-boy repair/maintenace technician.

Not to mention how quickly it becomes a matter of driving skill with modified mini-zs. I've been racing them for almost 3 years now and I'm a pretty good driver, but I have about half the speed and steering dialed out of my modified cars at the controller. It doesn't take all that much to make these cars too fast for your brain and fingers.

As an interesting side note, the same two guys that helped Atomic put that car together previously had almost all the same parts for sale as a kit at Reflex Racing. It was around $200, but you had to put it together yourself.

The funny thing is, they've been selling those overpriced Atomic built cars for a while now. Who's buying this stuff? Somebody must be right? Hell, I've been looking at that for months and thinking I can do that. The only thing is the time and parts searching that would kill me. I just don't have that much time on my hands. So, in that regards, I guess it's a decent deal if you don't know anything about RC and you just want a bitchin car without the many hours of modding, fucking up, remodding, buying bad parts, remodding, etc.....

Although, I can see the typical dude that knows nothing, slamming that nice car into a concrete curb at full speed once and then never driving it again because he can't repair it.
Cause I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle.

Price seems a little over the top, especially since you really aren’t getting jack.

What are you actually getting, some aluminum, a good motor, a decent damper, a good diff, cheap lithium ions, a 2x4 stack, and some over rated/over priced ball bearings.

The Z2 is my hands down modified motor favorite, but that’s not because of balls to the wall speed just the opposite it’s because of it’s usable speed and efficiency, and especially not with lithium ion current limitations. Bottom line is the car won’t kick ass on the street or track so what’s it good for.

For $800 I’d expect a DSM receiver with brushless ESC and motor shoved into a LiPo powered AWD or F1 chassis and something a little more creative than a stock differential. I also want ABEC 7 bearings for the price. I have nothing against ceramic bearings but what a ball bearing is made of doesn’t have a great deal to do with how little friction they have, besides what benefit are you getting by putting ceramic bearings in a MR-02 drive train? The motor bearings might just get warm enough to get some benefit out of ceramic but not wheels on a 200 gram car. I’d be a little more impressed if they had put that ceramic part into the differential balls where hardness and any miniscule weight savings might have at least a remote possibility of making a difference.

Don’t get me wrong I think Atomcmods making a profit is great, call me a redneck but I’m all for capitalism. It’s the in your face boastful ignorance of some of their customers that’s starting to get on my nerves. I also have nothing against brain dead ignorance, preferably in attractive well endowed females, but come on Forst Gump’s a fairy tail. In the middle of a thread happily discussing the arrival and attributes both good and bad of the new F1’s this shows up:

Madf1man writes:
Atomicmods has them in also as of yesterday. Rob said they only got about 12 each of them so they,ll go fast
Then a few posts later Biff writes:
Like I needed another car thanks to madf1man.

The McLaren Kimi Raikkonen is on its way.
You just want to “biff” him and yell yo stupid-head for the past week they’ve been all over for $20 less than you just paid, for example a week old ebay listing that not only has them for $20 less but free shipping to boot, so just WTF are you thanking him for? Helping you pay $30 more than you had to. Hey look Biff baught a car.

I got this shelf queen off NML for $160: a perfect Mclaren body, 4x2 internal fet stack, PN Motor mount, PN friction damper, GPM ball diff, bearings, PN alloy battery clips, CF H-plate, alloy wheel nuts. Also the tx and other bits. All packaged up in a kyosho box, with some extras too. Dropped in a Uberdash and ic3's that I already had, and off I went... Just the right amount of power IMO, practically unlimited but all usable.

And AM dosn't even give you tire glue.......

For $800 I'd expect a DSM turbo. As in Mitsubishi.

For the $800 they will be making a killing of the kid that buys it because the first time they screw up and don't have a clue how to fix it Atomicmods will ask for more money for service.

And why would any one that has any sence at all want the power switch bypassed?

I can just see it now this car will be a burt twisted $800 lump of metal within a few mnutes of a newby charging it.
