I think you should leave off the wing. The contours on it are pretty good, and once you get that paint fixed up it'll look good.

Your friend is wrong.....that color looks great on that car. Just try using light coats when building color. The less thickness in paint the better, especially when removing masking. I used to use enamels with minimal sucess, until I started using lacquer. It goes on real smoove, lets you add stripes, decals etc. , then you can clear the whole thing over. Try it out.....

Thanks for the advice HirotoR34 but I wish you would have told me lacquers before I dropped 20 bucks at Walmart. Oh well, there goes another lesson...lol

sorry man....I just saw that. Try experimenting with what you have. Go lightly between the first few coats (wait two minutes or so in between) then the last coat lay it down heavier. I generally used three or sometimes four coats with enamel.

OK I'm done with this one. It's not going to be perfect but it's at a point where I'm cool with it.
I was wet sanding it the other night and ended up deciding on starting all over. I dried, removed all the previous paint with thinner, sanded again, and started to lay it down following the Pimps' advice. It came out much better IMHO because the paint was more even on the main body. The only blotchy part was the bottom, not sure if it was because te base coat dripped to the bottom or because the body kit is made of a different plastic (ZZ packaging). Anyhow it ended up looking a lot cleaner though you may not be able to tell from the new pics (I gotta learn how to take photos too). These pics don't even have a clearcoat yet. I'm taking Evoraptor's advice and keeping the wing off.

That's sweet. I think your bodywork and paint are nice, and it sits really well. Wheels are cool too. Good job.

You've got the right idea. The body kit and wheel mod are very good considering it's your first. You'll may be better at that than me within another car or two. The paint on the other hand might take you longer to get down. That's okay though. My first paint job wasn't all that. Just practice with what you've got. My biggest thought when looking at your paint job was that you're holding the can too close when painting and you're holding it in one place instead of doing the whole spray-by method.

Also, ask plenty of questions if you want, but develope your own attitude when it comes to the body modding. I usually research the web for pictures of the car that I'm going to mod as well as a little history lesson in that car before I start working on a project. That way I get a feel for the car and what would look good on it. I know Evaporator recomended no wing, and I tend to agree, but looking through the web might reveal something that might change your mind. There are a few Corvettes that have a wing that is perfect on it. The only problem is that a 1:64 Corvette is different and a wing, no matter how perfect it looks on a Real Corvette, might not look right on this Vette. Anyways, I'll get off my soap-box now.
