LOS ANGELES - Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into moviegoers' hearts with "Dirty Dancing" and then broke them with "Ghost," died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. Swayze died in Los Angeles, Wolf said, but declined to give further details.

It's sad but unfortunately not unexpected. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 2 years ago and the long range survival rate of that form of cancer is low.Murdoch wrote:wow really? i saw a news report about that earlier today and thought 'na that can't be right'.

I don't think I ever liked any of his movies but when I'd see him in interviews I couldn't help but like him...pancreatic cancer is a bad way to go. You get to a point they can't medicate the pain without knocking you out so if you want to stay conscious you're really gonna pay for it.
