I think a dual cell car tops out higher than a FET modded car, but a single cell FET modded car will take it off the line, but dual cell fast with the light weight of the SE cell, and then add some FETs, now we're talking.betty.k wrote:side by side there's not much between a dual cell and a fetmod (single cell)
one of my fastest regular bits is a single cell with a fetmod
I'm just curious how fast these go with the 2.4v power source, because RS has had a habit of limiting the potential of cars in the past.

I think the reason is RS doesn't want to make their toys drive too hard, mostly because when you drive something hard, it has a shorter run time, it breaks more easily, and also the electronics just won't last as long (by that i mean batteries and motors)crazydave wrote:I'm just curious how fast these go with the 2.4v power source, because RS has had a habit of limiting the potential of cars in the past.
It would be pretty damn cool if RS made a new special edition car that actually drives hard stock, with user friendly battery swaps and all that good stuff.
Whack!

That would be totally cool if they did something like that and didn't try to market it as a toy, but just kept them in the back like the electronics kit projects. It could work if they completely parted out the chassis, so no one could bring it back and say it was broken. Offer different pcb options (SE, OG, MT, ), etc, and I bet people would buy them. I would.Nasphere wrote:It would be pretty damn cool if RS made a new special edition car that actually drives hard stock, with user friendly battery swaps and all that good stuff.

Not really, you'd need a PCB with an H-bridge for the steering to drive the steering motor. I have a couple stunt car boards laying around I could use, but then I lose the lights. I want the most value for my money if I'm gonna drop another $20 on a Zip Zap.Maxximum Attack wrote:Wouldn't swapping an OG board solve the limiting problem (if any)?

I just grabbed one of these. With Xmas coming up and nothing new on the shelves yet, I've pretty much given up hope, and figured this might be one of my last chances at buying another Zip Zap.
These are great. IMO the most perfect non-propo micro yet. The motorized steering is snappy and precise. The car is fast out of the box. Clip that resistor beanoman found, and it is about as fast as an OG Zip Zap dual celled. Stick a SE body on and you're set.
I just feel bad I can't get more excited about it, but if they had they released this chassis a couple years ago...

well just got one, from a local radioshack. pretty damn spiffy. although one of the headlights doesn't work and the steering is really bad. everytime i go straight, make a turn and go straight again it keep going to a different direction, either right or left, i tried messing around with the little wheel adjuster on the bottom of the car but so far nothing too well, any suggestions?

Check for hair in the tires and for the headlights try and resolder the connection if there is one loose.Sharp wrote:well just got one, from a local radioshack. pretty damn spiffy. although one of the headlights doesn't work and the steering is really bad. everytime i go straight, make a turn and go straight again it keep going to a different direction, either right or left, i tried messing around with the little wheel adjuster on the bottom of the car but so far nothing too well, any suggestions?

yeah even when i got it right out of the box it was still a little bit bad on the steering, i have a soldering tool, but i cant really use it that well ill try though, but anyways im thinking about turning the card around, it seems to drive much better backwards then it does forwards and i dont mind the switch.stagg wrote:Check for hair in the tires and for the headlights try and resolder the connection if there is one loose.Sharp wrote:well just got one, from a local radioshack. pretty damn spiffy. although one of the headlights doesn't work and the steering is really bad. everytime i go straight, make a turn and go straight again it keep going to a different direction, either right or left, i tried messing around with the little wheel adjuster on the bottom of the car but so far nothing too well, any suggestions?
