Keeping/Getting 1/64 alive... ?

I've posted this both at R7R, and Bitpimps.. if there's anywhere else you feel it should be posted, please do so, or let me know.
Well, it's been a while since I've even tinkered with 1/64, other than ZZMT's, and I'm just wondering what's stopping it from kicking ass like it used to, availability is no harder than finding some other niche' hobbies that have a large crowd...so why is it fazed/fazing out... ?
Here's a few reasons I find to be worthy of not helping :
Cost, with zipzaps and SE's at 10-15 bucks, it's actually quite a price for something so small and simple... unless you buy clones.
options, so we have motors, and gearings... but nobody ever went into sourcing bearings, which, I know can be found in those sizes for not too bad of a price.... I'm looking into that now actually.. how many people would be interested if I sourced bearings ? also things like a chassis, for most of the more hardcore modders, cutting the front/rear pods off of a bit, isn't a huge deal, so if something like a dual-deck chassis could be made to fit those onto, it would rock.. not only for performance..but just wow factor..a novelty type thing.... those also would be very cost effective, providing somebody was willing to put the time in.
Living at the end of the world, I'm not able to buy either bits, or zipzaps, I know this is also a problem for others too.. such as those living in smaller countries. A simple e-store would do wonders for everyone... I know there is ebay.. but a place that sold everything would be amazing.. it won't be as easy as it sounds though, mainly sourcing the stuff is the hardest, considering it's OOP now.. (Out Of Production) as far as I know.
So, what ideas do you guys have ? I'm willing to put time and effort into getting the community as buzzing as it was back in 2002-2004... but I need everyone's help to do so.
Thanks.
Joe
