NKOK boat surgery

Want to talk about micro boats or micro planes? How about trains, slot cars or submarines? Well you can do it all right here. If it's another hobby and it doesn't fit in one of our other forums, then it goes here.

NKOK boat surgery

Post by ezenterprises »

Well i tried the yellow 27 mhz and it kinda sucked. The reception was bad and the motors pulsed. The red 49 mhz is pretty nice . Im pleased with it.

So, i decided to tear the yellow apart. Cabo is right its plastic welded together but with an xacto knife and patience i managed to break her open without to much damage. The motors are sealed in the white motor hull thingies but they are easily opened once removed from basic hull. Motor is typical bit motor but hardwired with 2 wires plus a ground wire soldered to the casing. A bit motor fits in nicely, but im not sure how you would solder wires onto a bit motor to get the same functions as this motor. Any ideas????

also it has 2 batts, havent craked open that area yet to identify type etc. bit i think you can easily add at least one more and prolly put it in the rear of the boat between the 2 motors. Not much weight but if anything it will lift the front and give it a race boat look. Im too busy to tinker with it right now but these ar ejust preliminary findings.

thanks for the pics and explinations man!

do you see holes near where the charging port would be on the inside of the boat? like water could leak in there or the switch right? I'm thinkin that's whay fried my boat.

ya i just cracked open mine tonight cuz my kid busted the antenna off. those disc wafer resistors connected to the motor circuits limit power so i cut them off and now i got a nice performance boost. one night soon ill resolder the antenna and seal her back up. what yo guys gona use?

Why not just use a silicone sealant/caulk like for a shower door?

SuperFly - I think that stuff is going to be too heavy and go on un-evenly, we're gonna have to make sure whenever these boats are put back together, we don't screw with the boyancy (sp?)

Hog, I've been thinking about this for some time now.
I found this glue that is like super glue in the sense it goes on clear and thin but is strong and water resistant.
The really cool part is, you put on the "glue", but before it actually adheres, you have to put on "activator" - so that's a nice feature... but the really cool part is it also has a "debonder" so I can spray this on and end up taking the boat back apart if needed, without anymore cutting, etc.

So tell us Cabo, what is this miracle glue called, and where do we get it?
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

ya i wouldnt ad more than another one or two cells. remember its gona effect how it floats if its too heavy. trust me removing those resistors will give you a major boost.

I was thinking of doin the laymans battery mod and doin like 4 batts since that would be about same size as those 2 in there. Just curious what i coul dadd
