Projects and new things in the Garage at Bag End

Post by BilboBaggins »

The Projects.

I start out saying I HATE the Toyota Celica body. I have a few of them and I just don't like them. The First project is called Tricks. It's based on a Toyota Celica Body. I don't know if I'm going to continue this project or not, it depends on the feedback I get here.

Project: Tricks

The Second project started when my Nakamichi Racer was dismantled for the wheels for the GT-W project. I broke more on the chassis and I decided not to rebuild it at this time. I had a Truck body with a cap on it that was OK but I felt it needed something more. I removed the Cap and custom made the rear of the truck's cab and added a bed cover. I lowered the rear with a hidden mount in the body and I shaved the front mounting screw to lower the front. I took a Precious chassis I had laying around and put a hole in the front tab to mount the body with the original screw mount. I'm still debating on the color, I've been having images of Candy Apple in my head.

Third the Question. I bought this car on eBay (it was advertised with a 4.2 Pro motor, the motor is fast so it might be one) for $.99 plus shipping. It's on MHz (weird) and I would like to know what brand it is. If somebody says it's a Mitsubishi I'll have to send Gandalf over to knock some sense into them. Also what color endbell does the 4.2 Pro have (the one in it is blue like the Perfection 3.8's).

yup, I say you finish them all as well.

one thing though...
I love how you're trying to go for these squished tops, looks hot.
but ya gotta find a way to perfect it even more.
I see you've gotten better at it, but there's this weird lip around the windows that seems like it needs to be sanded down and smoothed out on some of your squished tops.
not knocking them, just offering up an opinion and some constructive criticism on what I'd like to see from you

maybe a cannonball clone?
I think I'm the only fool left with 2. lol
Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

The controller is Oval (black with silver face) and has a belt clip on the battery door. It's less than 3 inches high, about 3.75 inches wide and about an inch and a quarter deep. Uses 2 AA batteries and the mount on the car doesn't fit a standard BCG charger base without modification to one of the holes in the bottom.

I was getting fed up with it on Monday Night when I was working on it. I was trying for clear windows but the glue I was using had other ideas. It i will be sanded some more before it hits the paint shop.

On the Mits It was the 56 mhz that was throwing me for a loop. It's not the normal 57 on Tomy and LXX.

I'm digging that silver one too.

...and The 4.2 pro looks just like the 3.8, so that more than likely is what you have.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

I'm thinking of entering the truck into AusMicro's Contest, since it's the closest to completion. It just needs a great paint job. I'm still thinking something different for me, like silver with a clear blue top coat.

Kill the Celica project, some cars are just not meant to be wagons and the Celica is one of them. I felt the same way about the Celica when I first saw them, didn't like 'em too much. I decal'd up one and gave it to my Nephew, then it started to grow on me. Do you rmember DriveWRX's Celica ?? But if you insist on finishing it, you gotta kill that square back and round it off, every other line on it is rounded so you have to make the mod blend with the rest of the cars lines.

The Nakamichi truck is the SHIT man! I like the hell outta what you've done to it. It looks like it was meant to be a pick-em-up. When I first got mine I thought about it, never got around to it with all the other projects in Da BodyShop, I think you just inspired me to go ahead with it now. This is one you've gotta finish. There are a lot of colors out there. Check out your local automotive parts shop for color ideas. They have many, many more colors than any hobby shop would ever have. Candy apple has been done a lot, not saying it wouldn't look good but just weigh your options.....

My Mitsubishi Montero I picked up at the mall a while ago is just as you
described it down to the controller except I got the Red one. Never found
out who made it though and wasn't too interrested in finding out but I'm willing to bet it was between Cannon or Bensu even though Cannons have a separate charger and Bensu's usually have round controllers but produce more of a variety of bodies.

Otay! those are my thoughts, keep up da good work Pimp!

I started the Celica as a joke to make it into a Matrix, but it's still fugly. The only other thing I can think to do to it is make it a spyder. I still have a few Celica bodies left so that may happen.

I added rails for the bed and gave it a coat of primer. I use the first coat of primer to see the imperfections to work on before I really get serious with painting.

But to get it as low as I did I used a BCG chassis not the Nak's. I had two reasons, first The Nak chassis wouldn't allow me to lower it that low as a Pickup and second I broke the Nak chassis when I put it on blocks to borrow the rims and tires.
