zip zaps VS bit char-g
just wondering how the zip zaps stack up against against the bit char-g?
im in canada (calgary) and zip zaps are readily available at radioshacks but i can not find bit char-g. i can easily get bit char-g online but shipping can get expensive, especially when im looking for extra parts and mods.
so my main question is will i find the zip zaps disappointing compared to the bit char-g? difference in parts? speed? ability to customize?
can u interchange parts or bodies?

Propo is the stearing.soren wrote:sorry if this is such a dumb question... but i am a newb to these
what is propo?
Normal bits and zips use a magnet for the stearing and its full on one left or right.
Propo (proportional) uses gear and motor stearing and lets you controll the distance the wheels turn(to an extent). The propo in the se is nice but depending on your drining you might not use it.
I am also in Canada (as you know from our convo on msn) and Zips just came out here and are halping the market alot. I can only hope to find more locals that will race with there own cars now and not mine lol, but thats ok cause I gots me the drag car from hell if they end up using my fetted cars (thanks CD

Yeah, I think that bugs quite a few people. The ZZ 350Z is not too bad, and the muscle cars are all really nice, but alot of the others do sit way too high in front. They look much better lowered.soren wrote:another thing i have noticed in pics is that the zipzap bodies are kinda ugly and sit very high on the chasis... does this bug anyone else? lol
i think ill stick with bit char-g

Of course, the stupid ZZSE's are only proportional on the right-left, it's bang-bang only. That, in my opinion, sucks.
I have recently managed to break the wires off (or at least allowed a buddy to break off) the switch and all the steering pot, and need to solder the @!$!$@ things back on. However, doeing so is virtually impossible, and I do'nt have infinite time.
BitChargers are often faster and take more cells better, or so I am told...but I know for a fact that bitchargers are faster. If you can afford 90$ for an RFFS, they can be made proportional, too....and with a Li-Ion or Li-Po cell (3.7v), youll have a rocket.
The SE's are also a shade slow, and do not take well to FET mods.

I personally feel that an unmodded only hopped up zip zap has more torque than a bit. Also thier bodies look more realistic due to the long frame. It also doesn't hurt that Radio Shack has infested America so there is always one near by. Don't own a SE so won't touch that flamming pile. I think they look shitty aside from the Stang, and I don't have much love for modern American cars sooo...
Course on the flip side, bits look "cuter" cuz they are pudgey and allows you to mod em a little easier cuz you don't have to go for 100% realizim. Thier smaller size is great if you like table top racing. Those millimeters of difference do make a big differance. Finally, you can get so much aftermarket shizzle for em or clone bodies at the most random places. which in turn makes em kinda cheaper.
So yeah no clear cut winner there. Just my 2 cents

what you mean by only hopped up?Finks wrote:I personally feel that an unmodded only hopped up zip zap has more torque than a bit.
stock vs stock - no mods, I haven't seen a zip beat a bit in torque - but I've only got 2 original zips and 1 se so I might just have some bogus zips or something.
shit, even modded vs modded, I haven't seen a zip beat a bit in torque - although I do hear that microAmps fet on the SE makes the SE very punchy (don't own one though so I can't say for sure), but from the way payaso talks - it's burning out, climbing hills, all of it

Really what I am talking about is the hop up kits you can get in the respective stores. So not bits persay but MS. Another Zip plus is range stock seems better. On the neg, I find my zip chassies tuff to get off and can break the front slot if not carefull. All in all though I am new to this gig, so it's a full on noob opinion.

no man... s'all good, I agree with some of your points, I just didn't understand what you were sayin on part of that post.
range on zips does seem to be better, but I think that's MS's flimsy antenna... I could be wrong though

Yes they did......ROYALLY !crazydave wrote:Actually I think the newest Zip Zaps might just have a teeny tiny edge on torque over a bit, but it's hard to say with all the variables. At any rate they are at least even now.
Remember that first run of Zip Zaps?
Gawd those sucked.
I gave my 1st one away cause the Z-Car I had ran rings around it even with the hop-up motors! That same Z-Car today with a KIT 2.6 is still the one I run the most!
