Just got my Chevelle, and... No jittery steering! :-D
Tracked straight right out of the box, my other 2 didn't, and I never quite got them right. I was able to make tight controlled laps on my little track.

Punch is also improved over the first run of SEs. It had no problems handling the 3.4 NxEx motor. Though I was still using the stock 12:1 gear.

Definate 2 thumbs up from me. Now if they just worked out all this stuff before they released the SE. They might haved scared off a lot less people, and I know there's not that many freaks out there, like me, that would just keep shelling out 25 bucks over and over until they get it right.

I can't wait to get FETs in this thing, and try out Cyborg Zero's voltage bypass mod, but I might put that off for a bit. My last SE died unexpectedly, and unexplainably. I think I overdid something when I was doing the uphill test, but at any rate, this is actually an enjoyable car, I'd hate for anything to happen to this one.

EDIT: I just noticed 2 changes. The front pin in the wheel is reversed ala Muscle machines style. It does not bind, and works fine, does not seem quite as smooth as the normal way.

And the motor has a big ol' fat contact on the end. I don't know if that makes any difference, but it does seem to be a torquey motor.

I'm curious if the 3.4s that come in the new muscle car tuner kits will be the same.

Well just got my brandspankin new Torino, holy crap it's not that bad a Zip. No stuttering in mine at all, she holds a line like a champ. The Body is just near perfection. When I got her outta the box the 1st thing my wife said was "please don't paint her!" hehe, I think it's safe to say the paint will stay stock.

Now this is a radioshack product so not everything is perfect. The only glitch is that my taillights don't work, well sporadically they will when I go in reverse. Should they be working when the car is going forward? This being my 1st SE I just don't know. Also is it just me, or does this car need a little larger set of wheels? Will look into this.

It was a good move by RS to focus more on old school american mucle cars with these new SEs cuz the ride hight suits em better.

All in all this is such a hot car. Would recomend it to any of you sceptical pimps.

I experienced something a bit similar. I bought a KIT racer once, and I kept the 2.6 motor that came with it. But that was like, say, 4-6 months ago. A few days ago I got bored and opened it up....and HOLY SHIT! The armature was a pint-sized version of that of an Xmod or Mini-Z motor!

Back on the topic: Since the motors have a new contact, maybe the armature of the motors may be different too. If that's so, we can take some winds off and make higher speed motors!

I have yet to get the new SE's, but from what I've read in this thread they sound PIMPIN.

After taking a look at the PCB I see they're using transistors with different markings, and the forward trannies are no longer stacked on the bottom. I'd have to say they're definately using improved transistors.

And the steering section of the PCB is layed out totally different. So they aparently had to rework the steering to alieve the jitters.
