hanging around here is starting to rub off on me! that and the weather is turning to shit down here, so i've resorted to indoor bits! (no really!) so i've put together a little screamer for the smooth floor scene.

it's a single cell, but incredibly fast. it has a biff (tm) turbo installed and a bit char g motors 3.8. i finally had a go at pullback rims which wasn't as hard as i thought and i don't mind the different sized wheel look with them. it's going faster than my dualcell desert hummer and wait for it..... no suspension!! not even a sway bar

i'm gonna have a go at painting the shell and lowering it as much as i can, add some lights and other details.
it's kinda weird really, i never tried to make slick street or track bits really, i just took em straight outside!

Alright, let's just get this handled... do you guys seriously dig the performance of the pullback wheel mod? SuperFly and I have tried it several times with bad results.

What we've experienced is the front tires are too grippy and pull the steering all over the place, and the smaller rear wheel diameter makes for too much torque, which makes the back end bust loose. Basically, the car is all over the fuckin' place... squirrely as hell... hogjowlzed out.

So many of you sick bastards love these things, but I can't make 'em work... what the fuck? Are you guys higher than me? What kind of surface do these things "kick ass" on? ANSWER ME!!!

edit: Sorry Betty, I forgot to say that thing is lookin' great, and welcome to hard surface driving. I need one or five "biffs"

tight weave carpet worked the best for me. i did another pullback mod with an internal dual cell and that thing was by far my fastest bit.

dude I live by the pullbacks. I love them.
I'm guessing driving style is going to play into effect here like always.

from what I gather, it sounds like you and SF get into stock car like racing. an oval about 6 ft at its biggest. slips and drifts sound like the key to how you guys race.
am I close or what the hell off?

pullbacks for me seem to work best on a slightly rough surface (as if driving on sandpaper - smooth, but with some grip e.g. patio concrete).
they work great on my track with is pretty smooth.
on the smoother surfaces, they collect dirt and dust easier and can slip at times, but nothing that can't be cured by rolling your car across your pants or something.

the only issue I've had with steering was when I used the rollin on dubs method and put rears all the way around, the fix was a REM and suspension and that was it.

there's more surface there so it only makes sense that they perform better than the thin stock tires.

my all time favorite combo is the alloys with pullback tires - next is just pullbacks all around and then finally the stocks.

Betty.... Sweet ride. Glad to see you finally bringin' yer toys into the kitchen lol. Did you use any kind of spacer on those pullback fronts? I've been working on a set and it seems like they are in too close to the knuckles... I was thinking of using little spacers made of WD40 tube or something... I dunno, maybe it' the knuckles I'm tryin' to use, and I should look at one of my other chassis for this.

Hue... I haven't even begun to do the rears yet, but what I had in mind was to use the tallest gears I have to possibly compensate for the torque caused by using smaller diameter wheels. I have a bunch of kit racer stuff that I haven't started messing with yet.... Are the kit racer speed gears taller than the ms teal/zz red ratio? I'm not sure, I need to look into that, as that could be a possible solution

yeah Bird, KIT racer gears were the first thing I tried, way back when... red KIT racer gears. That shit still sucks, I hate pullback wheels.

First of all --- BETTY welcome to indoor bit running! your new car is on its way to being the "SCHIZZLE"
I love pull backs wether I am out on the sidewalk or in the bathtub or on the living room carpet --they perform great , I have never had a shitty handling car { with dubs sometimes yes}.

No dude, I drive like Mario "fucking" Andretti... we got both kinds of turns goin'.

It's mostly the grippy fronts that I don't like.

Bird-

The KIT racer gears are totally sweet, especially with mosfet torque to turn that ratio. The green KIT racer gears are the tallest, so I wouldn't use those if you have a choice. The blue ones are one step up from teal, and the red ones are the middle KIT racer gears. I highly recommend the m for mosfet or dual cell cars, perhaps even a normal car with small wheels.

I'm surprised they're gripping that much, sounds like you push as much power as you can to them. I woulda thought they'd slip at least a little.

I think it's that the floor in my livingroom is a 77-year-old oak floor with no finish on it. It's a pretty damn grippy surface, so we typically use a harder front tire... never softer than stock fronts. I think the thing with the pullback fronts is the width... they just stick to my floor and pull to either side.
