You do realize you have a full month from today?
Yep, I was meaning I don't have time to buy another set of SE batteries, because I need to devote my budget to paints, decals, and body stuff for the remaining month.

I fully realized the deadline time, and to tell ya the truth, I couldn't help but to think you did that on purpose as payback for the first contest. ;) :-)

That may be true, but it sounds like a freakin' power tool, one them air powered ones. This thing is literally screamin'. It's been a while since I've run a tri-cell car, and I never run one with FETs. Gotta say, I am not disappointed.

UPDATE: The pair of SE batteries I originally intended to use are alive.

These batteries have been overheated, dead shorted, and even had they're voltage reversed, they were reading -.82v last I checked. I checked today for the hell of it, and they had stabilized to the rated 4.8v. Tough damn batteries.

I hit them with a quick zap from the charger, and they jumped to 5.4v. So I stuck 'em in my car, and...holey freakin' crap. :screwed:
This thing is insane. Straight up. It don't get crazier than this.

Got a vid I'm working on now, I'll have it up by tomorrow. You guys are gonna flip. No joke man.

And I thought I had an Xmod killer...

I think it's time to wipe some grins off a Mini-Z driver's face! Anyways, waht kind of board did you use? I wonder if those batts would fit in a ZZ or a BitZip...

Hmmm, that car gives me an idea. Can someone say mini funny car (or alter wheelbase)? Oh, and Dave, have you heard of the axle mounted turbine? It was in Hot Rod a couple months back. If you remember any funny cars, it was in a Mustang called Pegasus, and they slapped one on a Chevelle if I remember correctly...

Edit: I thought the SE batts were 2.4 volts each?

Dave,
any update on the vid?? I'm eager to see that fetted out 4.8 fly across the road. It's one clean looking chassis. Your Chevelle is looking right on also...

Oh man, you haven't seen the vid yet?
It's over in Flossin'

Sorry if that confused you, but I'm still gonna be updating on the progress of the car, and wanted to keep video comments separate.

Anyways, check it out, this car is truly sick!

Ok, if you've seen the video, then you know I needed a functional wheelie bar for this thing.

What I did was make a couple holes in the side of the chassis, bent a paper clip to where it would slip in those holes so it would hinge up and down. I put some tiny wheels from a micro Tech Deck on it.

Then I used pieces of thin flexible plastic packaging to stabilize the bar about a mm above the ground, but still allows some upward movement to absord the shock of the backend coming down.

I painted some cross bracing on the plastic stabilzer, so it wouldn't seem out of place.

It functions just as I hoped, but I still need to test it to see if it helps keep the car on the ground.

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

Thanks guys. :-) (Dr. Pimpenstein... )

Now that I got my decals, I really can't wait to do the body, but I'll probably be putting these wheels on a Zip Zap axle with red gears today. Hopefully I'll have this thing done by this weekeend.

Good choice on the gears, but I think my entry might just be a bit faster off the line... We shall see. I just hope I can get it to look right in time.

Great job man.. Looks killer.

Finished 'er up this weekend.

Made a hoodscoop from...What else? Zip Zap packaging, and super glue.
Image

After I glued it on the car, I also made a spoiler.
Image

With the little bit of body work out of the way, I painted it.

Layed a silver, then masked out an area, and layed a blue stripe ending in flames on top of that. Painted the rest black. Put a bunch of decals on it, and the instrustions specifically said not to use automotive laquer, but I did it anyways, because I figured if Fender can do it on their gutars, then why not.

I think it turned out great, it's ready to enter in the contest, so check that out to see the final results.
