The no B.S. "watch out betty!" thread
aight guys... I, unlike other people, have a legit post here. Betty, don't even watch out, because don't worry, NOBODY could take your throne as the offroad bit king lol... anyway, here's my offroad bit, version 2.

I do have a few problems that I'd like to kno answers to though.
#1: This thing will not go straight, nor has any dual cell car I've had. Is there any way to fix this?
#2: When it is on the charger, the thing will rev higher than I've ever heard a motor rev. The problem is that when I take it off of the charger, it revs only about half as high as it does when it's on the charger. Does this mean I need new cells?
thanks in advance, yo!

midget, a few things man.
double or triple steering springs are a must on monster wheels.
get the spring and make it tighter by twisting it around more to make a tighter centre.
make sure the magnet is around the right way, if it isn't you'll get good turn one way and crap strength the other way. When the magnet is around the correct way, turning strength should be equal both sides..
possiby make the front monster wheels half the width they are. this makes them lighter and easy to pull by the magnet to make it turn.
If you've having issues just going straight then re-check the alignment of the front wheels on the rims. poorly secured tyres don't help.
spin each wheel to esnure there's no friction on them. If one wheel is having "noticable" friction when free spinning then this will cause the car to always turn to the side this wheel is on.
don't be a dickhead crusty, don't offer a suggestion that is useless for the sake of your post count.....
that's my brain dump.....

first off, phat lookin' ride man! i've been eying off those rims and it's nice to have a preview! and before anyone tries to tell you the tyres are the wrong way around are just cockheads! that's an ol' mountain bike trick i used to do. for slightly mushy terrain we used to spin the back tyre back to front. the tread pattern gives more bite when accelarating this way.
it's not a tomy style chassis, but pay close attention to what i do with the spring. i've even made my own spring out of stronger spring steel, looks wonky but works the best. i must admit that the tomy style chassis' don't take widening well. my s2000 monster is a chassis like the one in that tutorial. (enertec micro charger) these cars have huge steering coils and a strong spring so big wide wheels go better on them. but offroad the big wheels are actually a hinderence to the steering in my experience, that's why i've settled on the small lego wheels found on my hummers and ferrari.
the wider you make the wheelbase the worserer the steering. bird's on the right track with the multiple spring idea, but i was getting frustrated trying to get them all in place so i decided to strengthen the exsisting one. have a look through here http://www.geocities.com/bettyk3332003/ ... ptute.html#1: This thing will not go straight, nor has any dual cell car I've had. Is there any way to fix this?

if you're using a proper dual cell charger (3 - 4 AA batts) then the voltage of the charger batts is roughly double that of the internal ones. so while your car is on the charger, it's a tri or quad cell. same theory goes for single cell bits.#2: When it is on the charger, the thing will rev higher than I've ever heard a motor rev. The problem is that when I take it off of the charger, it revs only about half as high as it does when it's on the charger. Does this mean I need new cells?
open up the steering and scoop any of the crap out that is probably in there and the wheels are probably a little heavy for the car
and your right i dont know what the hell im talking about lol
try hog's jb weld on the rear axle he sed if the axle pops out it could cause the car to drive crooked blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah![]()

actually no. i said reglue the wheels back onto the axle(especially the non drive side). if the wheel spins freely of the axle, it will tend to go right and this is exagerated greatly with a dual cell. jbweld works the best but superglue will suffice.crusty wrote:try hog's jb weld on the rear axle he sed if the axle pops out it could cause the car to drive crooked
jbwelding the axle into the chassis should only be done after doing the above. Its a tricky operation to get perfect but it ads probably 15-20% to the total horses.
