jmays , I gotta comment your pickup looks more like a single cab to me than a doublecab{crewcab}.But on to my original comment now that I made myself look like a picky fucker.

I really love the scratch building you've done with this and still are sticking to even though you have a toyeast bus on the way.Picture that bus with 5 spoke empi's and that paint job sdog posted a pic of and it would be smokin !

How about german civil defense {green with military markings}

Or you could hippie it out and put cheech and chong in the cab.

I wish I still had all my back issues of vw trends and hot vw's , they would have a wealth of paint scheme ideas.

single cab

Post by jmays »

thanks for the correction on the body style! I did get the te bus in the other day, and even thought about cutting up one of the sheels to do a quick single cab from it but decided against it, i cant give up on this project i already started! ic-dub i will have enought resin to cast hella vw single cabs so i can make a crunchy,or a street racer, or even a lowrider pimpin style with the three wheel. its all good! I am running into a little problem here though, i cant decide if the single cab should have the inside of the bed higher than it is now, the thing is that i am unable to use the pcb cover at this time, i could raise the bed liner flush with the top of the bed and utilize the pcb cover but it may look funky or odd, i am think more along the lines of excepting that it will not have a cover on the pcb, but if anyone wants to get a clo9ne of this bus what would they like for it?

thanks for the ideas which is what keeps me inspired with the lenghtly project. i am sure that the rewards will be worth it...

I think you should go for the tonneau cover look , use masking tape for the texture and paint over it semi gloss black or any color that would work.

dude its been a long road on this puppy, everyday for the last month i have been working on this project, and even at one point i thru it in the blender...lol some of you who read my thread on my worktable will understand what i mean by that...lol i notice from the picture that the tailgate is way to hi, i might leave it like that it gives it a lil caracter. kinda cartoony, the bumpers really even it out, i test fitted them and that is the final piece, i am really thinking about that the canvas top for the back bed area, you know like the chuck wagen type cover. sweetness, soon you all will be able to get you very own jmays special bus/truck.

yes sir it will be two tone with an off white, everything from the roof down to the side molding will get white and the front vee section and the lights painted in and other details it will come together real nice, my real point in just painting it is that i need a good surface for the molding of the body, i will pop out these lil trucks and give em diff paint schemes, I lucked out and landed this cat 5 braided wire from an i t tech at work and choose the green it looks nice, if anyone need some strands of this cat5 drop me a line. i will toss some in an envelope!

@sdog that was done with the hobbie saw attachment for the x-acto knife, and the hinges were made with solid core wire cut in small pieces, its hard to see it the picture though, when i get the top half painted white i will get a better picture, the back of the bus is correct with the flip down gate, with-out handle u might see on other vw truck bodies out there. I am sceptical about posting this picture since its so close-up and in great focus, hope you guys dont look to hard at her...lol :???:
