Only thing that worries me is that the SE's sit so high on the chassies and both those cars look 1000X bettter low as fuck to the ground.

The monster truck trie set should be interesting.

The first thing I do to a SE is yank out all the lights, and cut the front tab off the chassis. It will sit pretty damn low, and still looks to scale.

None of my SEs have that front tab anymore, and as tight of a fit as the SE bodies are, I don't see any reason to replace it. It works alot better than it sounds.

So You cut off the tab, so that there is no tab to mount the front of the body on? Is that what You mean. What about the read end, and lowering to that part? Is There any mods You recommend me doing to my SE, the mods I already have are on my signature on the bottom of this post, Oh Yeah are Li-poly's worth it on a SE? (does anybody know)
Thanks

Exactly...

I don't usually lower the rear, cause I just don't think it needs it. It's the front ends that suck ass on a ZZ

Yeah I hear ya peyaso, but you are saying that you Just cut it off, not re-attaching it lower? You don't get any rubbing issues or body movement?

Well yeah....this kinda goes along with the other RS thread started...the main weakness of the SE is how high the bodies tend to sit on the chasis. The muscle car bodies and the Torino didn't look too bad, but thats just because the dimensions of those bodies provided more room for the high profile of the SE electronics. It's very possible that these new models will sit like the Acura kit. I'm hoping not.

Wouldn't it be nice if they worked on the electronics a bit to get a lower profile chasis? :???:

Well yeah....I thought that was a given. I won't say I'm satisfied with the way the SE runs and handles....there is always room for improvement. But, its pretty damn good at this point for 1:64 scale. From a collector standpoint, I said a while ago that I'd like to see some more exotic type sports cars for ZZ's. These two are a good start if they look right.

Man, you guys have NO CLUE how good we've got it with the SE. The ONLY other full propo vehicle out there in this scale (and it's actually 1/60th scale) is the Yokomo "Puchi Maru". If you thought the SE was thick, the Puchi is WAYYYYY worse.

I'm going to take some direct SE to Puchi comparison shots tonight I think, but in the meantime check out my page of comparisons:

Especially this one: http://tinyrc.com/gallery/MicroComparisons/aai
The puchi is the far left one.

Yeah, and doesn't the Puchi only come in vehicles that are like little vans to make room for all those electrics?

That why it's always been hard for me to be too critical of the SE, and if you get one of the newer ones with no steering jitter, and FET mod it, I don't see how it could get any better at that price range.

You won't get an argument out of me on that point. The SE is my favorite micro. but VoodooMafia has a good point concerning how the Viper and the GT40 need to sit low on the chasis to look good.

We should throw this shit up on my "ZipZap SE, RS are you listening" thread. You know they monitor the site :???:

Not very, I'd reccomend getting good FETing bit before moving to the SE. It's a lot smaller space you're working in.

Then again, I've done so many freakin' FET mods for myself and others, it only takes me 15-30 minutes anymore. That's compared to my first FET mod that took me an hour and a half.

I keep saying it, but really one of these days real soon I'm gonna write a step by step tutorial on FETing the SE.
