ZZ SE snap crackle pop?
not sure where this should be at... but I got a question pertaining my SE. When trying to get a full charge, something starts making a popping noise. Like it's getting too hot and frying something. Though, I'll take it off the charger and it runs fine. No bad smells or extra hot parts. I don't know what exactly it's doin..
if it makes a difference, it's a second gen se.(torino)

Hey, MM, you're not alone in this observation. I have SE batteries in several cars and they do indeed occasionally makes a popping, crackling noise when I put them on the charger. Scaring me into thinking I damaged the battery, but they work fine.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Those SEs batteries seem to be tough. I've one set that I've over charged, and dead shorted them, causeing voltage reversal 3 times, and they still snapped back.
It's normal for the batteries to expand and contract when charging, and that's probably all it is.

Well I don't want to dictate any set in stone rules. I think you're a smart enought guy you can use your own judgment.midget_man1387 wrote:thanks dave! so does that mean continue charging or stop?
You know common sense stuff, like if you already been charging a couple minutes, or the batteries are getting hot, when they make the sound, then maybe you better stop to be safe, but if you just put the car on the charger and nothing seems out of place, then I wouldn't worry about it, I've had no problems.
