Silicon tire coating

Post by HACHI-RYOKU »

Anybody know some good silicon for tires?

I've done some wheel mods with wheels from other toy cars but the traction sucks. I know people who mess with slot cars sometimes coat there tires for better traction with black silicon. I've tried coating them with clear silicon for lack of finding the black silicon specifically made for slot cars, but it's not working out too well. The traction from the clear silicon is very good, but the silicon comes off quick.

Any ideas?

Don't know nuthin bout no silocone treatment. Slits will help like Hog says. I like to "scrub" my slicks before running them. New tires, especially the Tomy slicks, suck. I scrub them in by taking fine grit paper and lightly rubbing the tires, just enough to remove the shine and make them nappy.

there is a silicone u can use. i will try and look it up. probably got a tube of it in my mod box somewheres. i used it when making a wheel mod with plastic rims. it wore off real quickly though and was kinda not worth the effort of applying it, but i did do it and it does work for a few days.
i come correct

Enjoy, and thanks for the input.

When I do wheel mods (Muscle Machines, Import Racer, Dubb Ciy) I never use the tyres that come with them, I use Bit tyres 8-)

Glad you found what you needed..........

Yeah, I try to use bit tires, but some wheels don't work for the job. I've got some rims on a bit that I'll post up soon. It's dual celled and fetted as usual, but the thing just spins out all over the place. When I try out this silicon stuff, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
