Got my EVO and not sure whether to open it or keep it sealed and send it to GPM.

Got some data for you though

The bearing set comes with 14. 12 @ 6x13x2, 2 @ 3x6x2

Stock Stage 1 motor is a 27,000 RPM Motor.
The stage 2 motor is a 30,000 RPM motor.

EDIT: Forget it I'm opening it.

The body is so thin I am almost afraid of breaking it wile putting the parts on it.
It comes with 2 rear attachment clips. one for EVO and 1 for earlier generations.

Got a chance to install the bearing set today. Of the 12 bearings the stock 2WD car only uses 8 bearings not like the old one that took 12. The stock car took 8 of the larger bearings and installed easy. Before you start installing the bearing though get 2 things: Tape (any tape) and a paper towel. The paper town used to clean the grease that the bushings had on them since bearings don't need grease. The tape for one of the steps in the instructions so the whole rear end does not come apart when you get access the the differential gear.

So far I have taken it apart and put bearings in the new car and still I have yet to put batteries in it and run it.

Got some info on the EVO_T as well from the paper in the Bearing Kit.

The basic Chassis the the SAME with minor changes like the rear pod turn around 180 degrees.

Got a chance today to run it in a parking lot. Compared to a stock Xmod this was faster. It didn't even act like it was going to do a barrel roll when I made a turn either. Can't wait to upgrade the motor to see how fast this thing really is.

Is the radio system the same as the original xmods? Is the radio transmitter the same as the original? If it's a new system, does it have the same 6 steps of steering in each direction and 6 steps for the throttle?

the radio system is the same.
i've seen an evo controlled with an old school tx without a problem.

doh, maybe in the next evolution of xmods, it'll go to a nicer propo system

I dont know about a nicer propo system. But i do know that the turning radius is much better on the evo xmods that it was on the gen 1's etc.

Big deal, that was an easy fix anyways, man i thought the electronics would be upgraded.

Found out today that one of the hobby shops about an hour from my house will be racing Xmods Saturday night. I'll get the chance to take my EVO against the old cars and see how it does.

I'll try to get pics or video.

Your lucky, all the mini-z tracks around me are xmod racist when it comes to race nights. They only allow mainly stock mini-z's too at race night.

I will be taking 4 cars:

1 Stock (beat up civic body)
1 AWD Drift w/SB stage 2 (Yellow Skyline)
1 GPM with RS clear chassis, carbon fiber, Under glow (Corvette)
1 Evolution (EVO

BB, and stage 2

Can't wait to see the looks when the EVO hits the track.

The track is a carpeted oval.

I also had the lucky chance to pick up the firebird in stores. I would say stock, it compares well with a stock iw-02 (except the transmitter). I don't know if I will upgrade it much, it is plenty fast for my tight, indoor track. The bearings and suspension would be worthy upgrades.

Cj, any word on the truck conversions?

jeez, radio shack really did a good job! running a 27 turn motor was no problem! it gets warmer but no toast. i'd be confident enough to run an s03 (37t) with the stock pcb as a permanent thing.
my only gripe is the tierod and steering posts are way too low, kinda like how the knuckles on the old xm were too low.

still, as cj said it's pretty torquey out of the box. definately needs the bb set installed, the bushings are way too sloppy.

we fucked it

first to go was the diff. it's 2 halves are held together by a pin which just presses together, not a good idea!
it had been slowly coming apart and caused the little pinion gears to strip.

once we bodged it together with some old xmod diff pinions (not quite the same size) ph2t wanted to hurt the fets!
he dropped a 21 turn mzworkshop motor in it and the motor lugs got warm after 10 seconds on the speed checker! (43kph by the way! )
we took it outside and after a minute we blew the fets! even melted the plastic above them!

when you consider that there's no heatsink directly on the fets you realise the stock fets are pretty impressive. i think you could improve their performance by simply placing a chunk of aluminium directly on them with some of that heatsink compound.
