Bond, James Bond...DB5...

Post by Sporttracguy »

James Bond has to be one of the all time top pimps. Think about it, he always has his way with the ladies, he drives hot cars that are compleatly pimped out with rockets and eject seats, and he has a license to kill...Doest get much better than that.

Anyways, just thought i would show off the stock DB5 zzse. I must say, its one of the better stock zipzap bodies out there, fits very well.

Image
(i cant seem to load into my pimp gallery so its on another site for now)

and i started to pimp it out tonight,, at the moment its running 4.8 volts (two zzse cells), a set of 4 foam slot car tires on slot car wheels (ill get those to sit under the body better later,,Its late tonight) a solid antenna, and i tab lowered her.(those foam tires are much smaller diameter than the stock tires and with the tab lowering this baby sits very low.) Its a start anyways.

Image

EDIT: This is the first bit i have ever made for just street, ever other bit ive made always ends up being an offroad or rally bit. This is also the first time ive used foam tires and i must say im impressed, this thing handles like its on rails, even at high speeds (although it does slide in turns at times)

Next up will be to fix the front tires so they sit in more, add a larger motor to take advantage of 4.8 volts and some bitpimps decals and she will be close to done i think.

Enjoy

Here are some new shots(pretty much finished as far as this ride goes)

I moved the front wheels in so they fit under the wheel wells when turning, tab lowered it, cut back to 3 cells (4 was causing problems), added some bitpimps logos, a solid antenna and mounted a superslick steering wheel to the remote (its larger, sticks out further and it has a nice rubber grip.

I think James Bond would be proud

Im thinking of painting the wheels to match the body or maybe the color of the bumpers but im not sure, the white is sort of growing on me,, what do you guys think?

I like the wheels a lot more since you've narrowed them. I'd paint them a bright silver, so they look almost like aluminum.

Man, now I have to have that car. I might just head down there today. :???:

Yeah, it does look a little like a go cart as far as the wheels go. To be honest, i picked these foamies up a while back and i just needed a reason to put them on something, the purchase of another zzse was a good enough reason so i tried to make it work lol. This is the only bit that i have that cant handle carpet or some sort of off road surface, everything else i make seems to be a dirty bit so this was a new experience for me.

Because those tires have such a small diameter and are quite wide along with the fact that its been lowered and has an extra cell this thing handles great. The foam tires are the best for performance and the traction is just right.

Next ill have to install a larger motor and she should be about done.

Thanks

I used to use screw-on Alloy spongies back in my HO days. We used to wet 'em, do burn-outs then watch'em take off down the track! I liked the silicon screw-on alloys better. Easier to clean (track dust).. 8-)

I think SuperFly used some on his Pimp'd out Gloria!

Just dropped in a blue 30K superslick motor and this baby flies with the three cells, im impressed.

EDIT: I had a buddy come over tonight and we decided to test out how good the new db5 really is, this sucker can hold its own with my 4 celled (and bug turbo) Epoch for acceleration and speed (although the propo isnt nearly as good as the epoch) Im amazed. I can even break traction around corners with the foamies, i get a very nice little fishtail.

I considered using foamies on at least one of my cars, and after seeing this, I think I'm gonna try it. I would definitely paint them silver. Nice work STG!
