Rims that have bigger holes than the Bit axels

Got a lovely set of rims on the weekend from a crappy little diecast pullback. The rims are perfect dimensions in comparison to the original Bit rims and the TOMY tyres fit perfectly. The only issue is that the hole for the axle is twice the diameter of a normal rim. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I was going to get some bog from my old man's shop and plug the holes up and re-drill to a more snug fit but if there is anything else less drastic that can be done that would be good...

Any suggestions fellas?

I don't know what "bog" is but here's my thoughts:
if you've got a big hole to fill. fill it with putty or something that hardens good and re-drill, not that bad.
if you've got a small hole to fill. try wrapping up some tape or paper or something on the end of your axle, put on some super glue and jam it in the hole, just once though - no in and out motions.

Thanks Cab's. Bog is putty. There's an expoxy resin based product down under called PlastiBond. It's a two part plastic that is great for many applications. Bog is its *industry* name...

If ya got a drill press, you really know you'll drill them holes precise

I would also fill the holes to make em more precise.. That's just me though..

Here's a solution I just came up with after trying wrapping tape and paper around the axle, and filling the hole with putty. I didn't like any of those solutions cuz I couldn't get the axle exactly centered enough for my neurotic perfectness.

I took the little plastic red straw that goes on the end of a can of air (you know, for dusting the insides of computers n' shit) and made it fit inside the hole in the wheel. I had to sand it fo a bit to get it to fit, but when I did, it's a really snug sleeve with a hole in the middle that's just about the right size for the axle. I cut off the excess on the gear wheel right at the side of the wheel, but for the other side I left the appropriately sized "nub" hanging out. Just a little reaming with a tiny drill bit, and I could just force the axle in as far as I needed, and it's tight. This method works best for me because you end up with a more balanced wheel which should perform much better. Ever had a really out-of-balance tire on a real car?

Use some sort of metal to wrap around the axle to make it bigger.
Alumim foil squished/pressed tight around the axle, adding layers.
Super glue each wrapping to build up.

actually jb wouldnt be the optimal epoxy for this. its too viscous. i would suggest getting some steel laced putty. it dries hard as concrete and is easy to play with and will drill just fine.

Ok, here is what I am doing to compensate for the larger hole.

I cut a stripe of thin metal. In our case, its the outter square for the rim inserts.

then I wrap it around a pair of needlenose pliers to make a semi-circle.

then wrap it around the axle and tighten/pinch snug.

cut off excess and wrap some more... to form a ring.

Then superglue the ring in the 'proper' place on the axle.

Then tuck the ring inside the rim.
My fingers are white, cause I just spray painted.

all done.

excellent job nox - but now I get to do 2 things here

1.) how the hell can ya find anthing on that surface of - what is that? rocks? all those tiny parts just seem to dis-appear in all the little colors lol

2.) your hands are very dry

1) The surface is a Rocks and Minerals magazine (my wifes).
Yea, it's a bastard to work on, I do loose things on it.
I like self-created pressure.

2) dry? why don't you come over and rub some oil on them big boy.
