Actually, Namuna is probably correct. At least that's the way it worked in 1/10 scale.

It's just like when we got digital recievers for our stereos, and we find out the local radio station 98KUPD is actually 97.9, and they're just called 98, because there is already a 97.3.

They're just AM radio signals, just like your stereo picks up.

but they transfer code over that frequency. when you hook a tx upto an oscillascope you can see it. tho i think fwd back lft and rt send on a slightly different freq.

The frequency is how many times the radio wave vibrates per whatever measurement they use. I'm pretty sure the signal is pulsed to convey information.
