More Grip, Less Slip On Your Old Bit Tires
by payaso
There are several ways to approach this problem due to variables like initial tire compound and racing surface. So, I’ll try to keep this as general as possible while still actually proposing valuable solutions.
After racing with your bit for a while, you’ll notice your car doesnt quite turn like it used to, tires get rounded edges and the rubber feels smooth. Here are a few options to combat this problem.
Score the tires
You can use a sharp knife to slightly make little cuts in the tires in a diagonal direction, this should help the tires grip when spinning in the forward motion.
Spray the tires with hairspray
I personally don’t like this method. It doesn’t last long and it’s a tedious job. You have to take all the tires off the rims, spray them with hairspray, let them dry and put the tires back on the rims.
Get a new compound
Get a softer rubber compound tire to help your car stick to the surface.
