Make A Foam Rubber Grip For Your SE Controller

by crazydave

grip_step01.jpgMy SE controller cramps my hand up, and I wanted a longer handle. So here’s what I did, I picked up some of this Crayola Model Magic stuff from the grocery store. It’s a modeling compound that dries into foam rubber.

I used two of the individual packs that come inside. I smashed and formed it around the base of the controller, and then formed the handle part. After I had it the way I wanted, I took an exacto knife and trimmed the edge to clear the important stuff, also to give it a nice straight edge.

I didn’t have to glue it (yet). I squished about 3/4 of an inch around the bottom to hold it. Then I had to cut it away on the front and where the trigger is, and I think there is about 1/4 of an inch left in those areas.

It’s plenty durable for regular use, but I’m afraid one good smack will knock it off. We’ll see.

I colored it with a marker, and it looks good, and isn’t coming off on my hand at all.

Lo-Pro PCB Cover

by crazydave

pcb_step01.jpgSo here’s the prob, some bodies just need to be lowered to look right, some of us just like to slam our cars, either way, your gonna end up tossing out the PCB cover, but how do we hold our car together now? Most of us revert to tape. I reverted to tape. Funtional, but I just thought it looked sloppy, and even more so I hate the tape gooies, and all the dirt they pick up.

Build Your Own Charger & Stop Buying Batteries

by SuperFly

I am finally getting around to posting this simple tutorial/how to. What we’re going to do is make an AC charger out of commonly available parts with the least amount of hassle. My kind of mod! Since I didn’t take pictures as I was building it, we’re going to deconstruct it. Here’s a picture of the final product:

The DIP Switch Mod

by ph2t

For ages I’ve been looking for a switch that is small enough to be able to put on my little beasts to be able to turn them ON and OFF.

I know that the car doesn’t really NEED a switch, but hey! that’s never stopped me before. ;)

Basically the goal is to be able to take the battery out of circuit and charge it without any excess current drain from the PCB/lights.

Making Your Own Decals

by CaboWabo

Let’s start off by answering a few of the more common questions.

What type of printer should I use?
Ideally, you would want to use a laser printer – they print cleaner, easier, and more precise than inkjet or bubble jet printers. Laser printers print in better detail and don’t leave “dots” of ink like inkjet or bubble jet printers do. However, color laser printers can be quite expensive and you may not have access to one, so you’re left with the inkjet or bubble jet. Using inkjet or bubblejet will only add an extra step or two to the process.
